VR Drive Software

Thanks to the touchscreen and its sophisticated software, the VR Drive is very easy to use. 6 software modes have been developed for specific tasks - with the program wizard you can create new programs in no time.

Software updates are available via our club website and guarantee product compatibility for many years.

wifi remote control

With its wifi remote control, the VR Drive transmits its screen contents to any wifi device.

This is ideal for starting VR Drive program sequences remotely or changing the settings of a program.

Big cameras

Even very heavy and voluminous camera equipment can be used with the VR Drive.

Thanks to the very powerful motors, the VR Drive can move a weight of up to 20kg.

Image capture at a 90° angle? No problem for the VR Drive!

External light meter

Equipped with an external light meter, the VR Drive can be completely automated. The VR Drive software determines the exposure time, exposure time + aperture, exposure time + ISO/ASA or all of them together.

The VR Drive automatically controls the correct exposure time in the camera software via a USB connection.

This automatic exposure option works with all USB-compatible cameras and is essential for those projects where every second counts.

Quality mode

The basic functionality of the VR Drive for panoramas of up to 360° is that the camera is stopped and released in separate positions.

This mode is ideal for low-light situations (indoors) or for camera-internal bracketing.

HDR mode

Camera-internal bracketing is limited, which is insufficient for 32-bit HDR photography.

With the HDR mode, the VR Drive controls the camera software directly via USB, which allows a significantly higher bracketing range.

It is a complete solution - no additional devices are required.

Speed mode

In speed mode, the camera rotates non-stop, which makes it possible to capture moving scenes.

As a general rule, a 6 second 360° movement requires an exposure time of 1/1500 second or faster.

Turntable mode

In turntable mode, the camera captures images of a rotating object for object movies.

A special, larger turntable is also available for large objects.

Never miss a picture, perfect positioning!

Timelapse mode

In time-lapse mode, the VR Drive triggers a series of images, which are then combined into a time-lapse film.

Images can be triggered between points or in the point itself - even HDR bracketing is possible!

Video mode

Designed for smooth video movements in the horizontal (x) and vertical (y) axis, the VR Drive Video mode allows a variety of advanced options.

For example speed (also very slow), pause, repeat and ramp for each point in the x/y space.

Workflow

For USB-compatible cameras, the VR Drive writes metadata into the images.

The Roundshot Image Bundler uses this metadata to group the images into panorama projects and to generate a position file (xml/papywizard). Thanks to this xml file, stitching in PTGUI succeeds with high precision - even for completely uniform areas such as the sky or blank walls.

Advantages

productivity

Tedious manual alignment and triggering is history. Thanks to its high level of automation, the VR Drive is a trusty tool for creating hundreds of panoramas in very short time.

VR trendsetter

We continuously expand the VR Drive firmware and bring its camera database up to date. This means that the most modern digital cameras can always be used with the VR Drive.

precision

Thanks to its ultra-precise positioning and its image repeating options, both gigapixel projects and time-lapse films are of the highest quality and succeed right away.

longevity

High-quality components are installed in the VR Drive, which guarantees high value and longevity. Thanks to our repair service, your Roundshot product will be operational for many years to come.

Testimonials

The Roundshot VR Drive helped MattePaint to expand the visual effects industry standard for HDRI capture. We now have over 10,000 HDRIs in our library and thus have the largest HDRI collection in the world, all of which was only possible thanks to the robustness and speed of the device. The VR Drive has helped us significantly in redefining the limits of what is possible.

The Roundshot VR Drive has been my faithful companion for eight years and works perfectly. My largest gigapixel image is that of Michelangelo's Last Judgment in the Sistine Chapel. To do this, I had to mount the Roundshot VR Drive on telescopic poles up to twelve meters high and connect it via wifi. That's why the compact size of the VR Drive and its low weight, coupled with its precision, are extremely valuable to me.

Ghigo Roli / Italy /
gigapixelart.it

For me, the Roundshot VR Drive is the guarantee for a successful gigapixel panorama, consisting of thousands of individual images. The highly reproducible accuracy coupled with complementary software eliminates ghosting. Partial panoramas are seamlessly merged into one panorama. This means that gigapixel panoramas can be realized in the shortest time possible with the least amount of effort. Today shot tomorrow online!

As a customer of Seitz Roundshot Systems since the 1990s, the Roundshot VR Drive offers us a fast, convenient and extremely reliable option for panoramic photography in this digital world.

Kawin Worakanchana / Thailand

As an engineer, I always value well-designed products. The excellent quality of my Roundshot VR Drive does not disappoint me. I also understand that machines and electronics can still fail and when that happens you really see the value of a company. My overall experience with the Seitz team was exceptional from start to finish - great communication, an outstanding buying experience and brilliant service should I ever need it.

Mike Ebanks / Great Britain /

A large part of my commercial projects is a combination of photography and CGI. The Roundshot VR Drive gives me the convenience of automating the HDRI process and peace of mind that the footage captured on set is perfect. The possibility of a wider and denser bracketing allows me to achieve more than with the camera's factory settings.

Szymon Swietochowski / Poland /

Taking panoramic photos is a common practice for capturing environmental references used by VFX artists. Acquiring the Roundshot VR Drive has sped up our workflow incredibly! It's easy to use, versatile and the Seitz support team has always responded very quickly and helpfully.

Joe Bannister / Great Britain /

When it comes to reliability and operational safety for commercial 360° shoots, the Roundshot VR Drive has been my first choice for over 10 years. Thousands of error-free images in one day are no problem. The perfect repeatability allows fully automatic post production. Seitz's regular firmware updates make the VR Drive an extremely valuable tool.
